New Migration

The New Migration Project is a public education program focused on reducing anti-immigrant bias in communities across the United States. The project fosters understanding between American-born residents and newly resettled immigrants in an effort to support safe, inclusive communities. Piloted in Lewiston/ Auburn, Maine, the New Migration Project now includes several cities nationwide.

Responding to Anti-Immigrant Bias Workshops

Across the country, neighborhoods are becoming increasingly diverse as new refugee and immigrant populations resettle in greater frequency outside traditional resettlement cities. The Center offers a series of trainings for community leaders and other professionals concerned with promoting safe, inclusive communities. Our experienced trainers deliver dynamic, interactive workshops that provide people with appropriate intervention strategies for reducing bias and prejudice in their communities.

Building Community Through Conversation

The Center’s Community Conversation series are an important way for residents and newcomers to connect and reduce misunderstanding, bias and stereotypes. Participants engage in respectful, honest conversations about issues related to immigration, race, religion, culture and nationality. Staff are available to lead dialogues in your community or lead facilitator training sessions.

Crisis Intervention Consulting

Our staff is familiar with some of the unique challenges a sudden influx of refugees and immigrants can present. With more than ten years of experience responding to local anti-immigrant bias related incidents in Maine, the Center knows first hand the challenges and opportunities that accompany a significant community change. We are prepared to offer intensive, tailored crisis response support to partners when circumstances arise.
