






The attacks of September 11, 2001 left a dramatic and sobering reality in their wake: not only did they have the immediate impact of loss for thousands of people, but they have also marked the beginning of a rising tide of hate violence against Muslims, immigrants and refugees in the United States. more

A gay man was brutally assaulted leaving a theater in Portland. KKK signs were posted in Hallowell and black effigies hung from trees on Mount Desert Island. Swastikas were scrawled on public buildings. In 2008, stories of hate permeated the headlines of Maine newspapers. more

The winter storms did not stop Lewiston/ Auburn residents from coming together in a spirit of fellowship and understanding at the Center’s on-going Community Conversation series. more
